NATO strengthens defenses across eastern region after Russian drone intrusion into Polish airspace

NEWS

NATO Secretary-General Rutte announced on the 12th that he would strengthen defense posture in eastern Europe, close to Russia, following a Russian drone violation of Polish airspace.

At a press conference at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Rutte, along with NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe General Grynkewich, said, "NATO must clearly demonstrate its resolve and capability to defend its territory," adding, "This military operation will begin within the next few days, and member states including Denmark, France, the UK and Germany will deploy a variety of equipment."

According to General Grynkewich, the measure is a "flexible and integrated" operation to strengthen defense capabilities across NATO's entire eastern region, from the Baltic states in the north to Romania and Bulgaria in the south. NATO, however, did not specify the size of the new troops being deployed.
